Bodhi Salt Yoga Teachers

Chelsea Carr

Chelsea is a native Ventura resident celebrating her fifth year of teaching Vinyasa yoga to our community. She generously holds space for each student to arrive on their mat exactly as they are, to allow themselves to feel whatever they need to, without judgement. Chelsea’s energizing yet grounding classes will guide students to reconnect and flow with breath through powerful poses with a sense of ease. Her intention is to create a space where Yogis remember that they have all the tools they need for this life, already within them. Students will step off their mats feeling safe, supported, empowered, loved and at peace.

Meet Chelsea Carr, RYT 200:

Tell us about the evolution of your Yoga practice:

“I originally found Yoga at my local gym when I was 18 years old. My goals when I started were purely physical, but I quickly realized that there was so much more to Yoga than just the movement. It took me a little while to find a teacher that really resonated with me, but once I did, I realized the incredible spiritual side of the practice. It's been about 13 years now, and although the first years were a little inconsistent, it has now become my lifestyle. I am a happier, more peaceful, more intentional and just an all-around better person the more time I spend on my mat.”

What’s one piece of advice you would share with a student new to Yoga?:

“Keep showing up. It's going to feel really awkward and out of touch at first, but keep at it,
and I promise it will change your life.”

Why do you teach Yoga?

“Since I found Yoga, I have connected more deeply with myself and the world around me. I've always felt that I was a compassionate person that was able to hold space for people, and Yoga is a place where I can play on these strengths, whilst sharing something that I really love. The practice of Yoga has transformed my whole being and has truly shaped my human experience for the better; I just want to share that same bliss with the people around me.”

Chelsea’s favorite inspirational quote:

“I understand now that I’m not a mess, but a deeply feeling person in a messy world.
I explain that now, when someone asks me why I cry so often: ‘For the same reason I laugh so often – because I’m paying attention.’”
